Over the last two years I have had a lot of injuries, from breaking my back playing basketball, to having major heart problems. I thought I would end up having to give up one of my favorite hobbies of backpacking, but I was determined not to give up without trying everything. I hired coaches for building strength and started out carrying jugs of water up the mountain. Each time I hiked I put a little more water in to increase the weight I could handle. I can now say I accomplished a huge goal of mine, hiking the John Muir Trail this last summer and summiting Mount Whitney.
